Fitness: Build Strength You Can Keep
Movement is one of the most reliable habits for long-term health. You don't need a perfect program. You need one you can repeat week after week.
Start with strength
Resistance training helps protect muscle and bone as we age, and during weight loss. Two or three short sessions a week with basic moves (squats, pushes, pulls, carries) is a common starting point. Increase weight or reps gradually.
Keep moving every day
Walking, taking the stairs and short breaks from sitting all add up. Many adults aim for about 150 minutes of moderate activity a week, spread across several days.
Protect your joints
-
Warm up for 5 to 10 minutes.
-
Focus on good form before adding weight.
-
Add mobility and balance work, especially after 50.
-
Stop if you feel sharp pain, and talk with your clinician.
How fitness fits with Telewell programs
If you are in a GLP-1, hormone health or healthy-aging program, your clinician can help you set activity goals that match your health history. This page is general education, not an individual exercise prescription.
